Face Shape Haircut Guide
The right haircut works with the shape of your face, not against it. Use a measuring tape and a mirror to find your face shape in two minutes, then see the cuts our stylists most often recommend for it.
Step 1: Take Four Measurements
Pull your hair back, stand straight in front of a mirror and use a soft tailor's tape.
Forehead
Measure across your forehead at its widest point, usually halfway between your eyebrows and hairline.
Cheekbones
Measure across your cheekbones, from the point just below the outer corner of one eye to the other.
Jawline
Measure from the tip of your chin to the point below your ear where the jaw angles up. Multiply that number by two.
Face length
Measure from the centre of your hairline down to the tip of your chin.
Now compare the numbers. Which measurement is the largest? Is your face clearly longer than it is wide? Match your answers with the descriptions below.
Step 2: Choose the Shape That Matches
Face Shape Is Only Half the Story
Most faces are a mix of two shapes, so treat the result as a guide rather than a rule. Your hair texture matters just as much. Thick, coarse hair adds width, so a round face with dense hair may need shorter sides than the chart suggests. Fine, straight hair falls flat quickly, so layered cuts and textured crops often work better than heavy one-length styles.
Think about your daily routine too. A pompadour or curtain fringe looks great when it is blow-dried, but if you prefer to wash and go, ask for a cut that still sits well when air-dried. Hairline, cowlicks, beard shape and glasses all change what looks best, which is why our stylists always start with a short consultation in the chair.
